Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What Do We Do with Donations?

Northwest Center collects and sells donations to our partner Value Village, and Value Village resells these goods in their thrift stores. Value Village partners with many nonprofits in the U.S. and Canada. Northwest Center uses the funds to support our early education and employment programs. Learn more about the partnership at www.valuevilllage.com.

Are Donations Tax Deductible?

Because we are a 501(c)3 nonprofit, donors can receive a tax deduction for their donations. Donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed under law.

The IRS form 8283 is used to document non-cash charitable contributions valued at $500 and more. The following IRS form is for reference, and is accessible on the IRS website: www.irs.gov, IRS Form 8283.

It is the donor’s responsibility to determine the value of the donated items. Northwest Center is a nonprofit organization with tax-exempt status granted under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. We do not provide values, pounds collected, or inventories of what is donated from donors. It is up to donors to track this information if they choose.

When you give to The Big Blue Truck, you're making employment of people of all abilities possible.
